Ice Skating on Evergreen Lake
When the lake freezes, the fun just begins!
Evergreen is known for many things, in all seasons, but did you know that it boasts the largest outdoor zamboni-groomed ice skating lake in the world. More than 8 acres of groomed ice skating awaits you and your family!
We have four boys so we love any type of outdoor physical activity and outdoor ice skating is sure that. It’s so fun but also challenges our kids on the lake water and in the natural elements of snow and wind. What an experience!
You can skate for fun, from beginner to advanced. They have the upright balance guide for kids. You can also bring your stick and puck and shoot on the goals!
Here’s some tips for you to experience
Check the website or call ahead
Ice skating opens sometime late December and runs until late February or however long the ice cooperates. Check the Evergreen Parks and Rec Ice Skating website to find out specific times and dates they are open. Then, even if the website says it’s open, call the number because sometimes it’s too warm (or even too cold or snowy!): 720-880-1391

They have a great indoor area where you can rent and a heated seating area to put your skates on. Rentals are $10 unless you’re also buying a single day pass to skate in which it’s a total of $20 for your skates and your ticket.
Skating Lessons
For those just learning how to skate, the lake offers periodic lessons. Click here to find out more. Also for those who are just learning, they have the upright balance guides to use for free - very helpful for little ones!
Hockey
On Thursday nights there is a paid adult pick-up hockey league you can join. Otherwise you can bring your stick any time the ice is open and play on the goals that are set out. At the end of January they have the Pond Hockey Championship. You must register a team in advance. The slots usually fill up within the hour of registrations opening in October so be prepared!
More Fun
